Ultimate gets you Running
Ultimate Frisbee or Ultimate, is a team sport that mixes elements of football, basketball, and soccer, substituting the ball with a flying disc.
Open-Mindedness
Ultimate is progressive and strives to create an intersectional, inclusive, and safe space for all athletes
Teamwork
Ultimate is played Coed and teaches team 7v7 play. You are not allowed to run with the disc so athletes must pass to, and rely on their teammates to achieve success.
Summer Camps Available June – August 2021
8-10 year olds Program
Learn to throw and catch a disc with the focus on fun for elementary aged kids. Discuss basic rules of the game through disc skills and teamwork.
11-13 year olds Program
Teach the rules of the game and early disc skills through basic drills and fun games focused on middle school aged kids. For beginners and advanced skilled players with an overall goal of improving skills throughout the week
14-18 year olds Program
Teach the rules of the game and disc skills through drills and fun games focused on high school aged kids. For beginner and advanced players with the goal to improve over the week. Learn how to play as a team through different offensive and defensive strategies.
Teamwork
In Ultimate, one athlete literally cannot do it alone. You cannot dribble up the court and dunk it, or skate end-to-end and score a sweet goal. You are not allowed to run with the disc so athletes must pass to, and rely on their teammates to achieve success.
Sportspersonship
Ultimate is self-refereed and at first, this fact raises many eyebrows. You may be asking yourself right now, “Won’t the kids just cheat?” It turns out that when every athlete on the field becomes the referee, they learn the true value of sportspersonship.
Open-Minded
Ultimate is progressive and strives to create an inter-sectional, inclusive, and safe space for all its athletes. Upwind Ultimate is a great example of an organization that is breaking boundaries in sport and pushing Ultimate athletes to become more aware of intersectionality.
